Legal Aid for Seniors
Yad Riva offers advice to elderly people in need of guidance concerning their legal rights. Professional volunteers provide free or minimal cost legal services of all kinds.
Yad Riva copes daily with the phenomenon of elder abuse and exploitation. Working through the legal system, they seek to empower seniors to preserve their independence and to maintain their quality of life. It is staffed by professional volunteers from the fields of law, medicine, and welfare. Yad Riva works in conjunction with Yad Sarah to protect the rights of the elderly person and operates at Yad Sarah branches throughout Israel.
The service includes:
§ Information centers, guidance and preliminary legal assistance in various areas such as national insurance, guardianship, inheritance law, family law, housing, health, consumer rights, and more
§ Legal assistance to elderly persons suffering from abuse, exploitation or neglect, including representation in court
§ Legal assistance for elderly patients in hospitals or other institutional frameworks or confined to their homes
§ An array of lectures for senior citizens and professionals working with them on the rights of the elderly
§ A telephone and information line for elderly citizens about their legal rights

Nine information centers, guidance, and preliminary legal assistance operate nationwide in 22 Yad Sarah branches.
