Breaking the cycle of loneliness
Home Visits provides a social solution for people with functional difficulties and for seniors who are confined to their homes. Unable to integrate into existing community activities because of their physical disabilities, these individuals are often isolated and lonely.
A Yad Sarah volunteer visits weekly and these home visits provide them with much needed social interaction and various activities that help diversify their solitary routine. Together they discuss common interests, play games, or read books together. They can also engage in creative activities, such as handicrafts, drawing, computer activity, or singing.
The joy of activity and creativity and the challenge of exposure to new subjects empower the patient, improve his self-esteem, and expose him to a new world that eases his loneliness and lifts his spirits.
